Our mission
Better Streets for Birmingham wants safer streets and more transport choice for everyday trips. To do this, we need to make changes to our streets, improve enforcement, and reconsider how we move around Birmingham.
We help residents to understand what changes can be made and how to ask for them. We also engage with authorities and government to make sure there is funding available.
We want to enable more people to leave their car at home by:
- Unblocking pavements from parked cars
- Building protected lanes for people to wheel and cycle in
- Changing our streets to be slower, simpler, greener and healthier
- Prioritising buses and trams
- Enforcing the rules of the road
What we ask of supporters
We don't require you to commit any time or money. If you would like to give money then you can donate to us.
We do ask our supporters to:
- Advocate our mission, vision and values
- Be respectful when engaging with other people and groups on social media
- Respect other supporters' privacy
You cannot join as a supporter if you are a politician due to the conflict of interest. But you can sign up for updates as a stakeholder instead. If you have any questions about joining us, get in touch.
Things to know before you sign up
- You'll be asked for your council ward - find your council ward on the Birmingham City Council website.
- Demographic fields are optional, they helps us to make sure we are representative of Brummies
- Your details will be held by Ghost - our website software - where we also manage our member list, donations and send emails
- You can leave the group at any time by using the unsubscribe link in the footer of all our emails
- You can ask for us to delete all your details by emailing hello@betterstreetsforbirmingham.org
